About Us

So Who’s Behind The Fishing In Wales Website?

Our founding editor is David A Griffiths, a resident of North Pembrokeshire and a life-long game fisherman. He has spent the last 30 odd years fishing in Wales and is hoping to get good at it one day!

David is an active committee member of Pembrokeshire Anglers Association and a trustee of Pembrokeshire Rivers Trust, a voluntary conservation, habitat improvement and educational organisation affiliated with Afonydd Cymru. He is also active in the Pembrokeshire Federation of Angling Coaches and secretary of Haverfordwest Target Shooting Club.

David A Griffiths - Editor, Fishing In Wales

The thing is, everyone knows that fishing is the top participation sport in the UK, but anglers are well aware of the general declines in the quality of fishing over the last few decades. Add to that, the current groundswell of “anti” opinion and we, as anglers, owe it to ourselves and the next generation of anglers to make sure that collectively we do everything we can to promote and preserve our valuable fishing resources – and, for me, that means especially in Wales!

We have a wealth of real hidden gems of fishing tucked away in Wales, but many anglers head off further afield to Scotland and Ireland. Now I’ve fished all over the UK (and several other countries, too), enjoying fabulous sport, but so many anglers I meet remain unware of the great fishing in Wales that we have right on our door-steps!
