Merthyr Tydfil Angling Association Description:
Merthyr Tydfil Angling Association has fishing on the rivers Taff, Usk,Tarrell and Taf Fechan, also on Pontsticill & Dolygaer Reservoirs, Upper Neuadd Reservoir, Talybont Reservoir, Cyfarthfa Lake, Penywern Ponds and the Brecon Canal.
River Taff – fishing is for brown trout. Worm, fly, and spinner are allowed.
River Usk – salmon, brown trout and coarse fishing. Trout fishing is either fly or worm.
River Tarrell – wild brown trout. Fishing is either fly or worm.
Taf Fechan – a wild brown trout fishery offering technical small-stream fishing. Fly fishing only, barbless hooks, catch and release.
Pontsticill & Dolygaer Reservoirs hold roach, rudd, perch, bream, tench, pike, carp and wild brown trout. Fly fishing, worming, and artificial spinner.
Upper Neuadd Reservoir is a wild brown trout fishery, fly fishing only.
Talybont Reservoir is a wild brown trout fishery, fly fishing only.
Cyfarthfa Lake is primarily a carp fishery. No fly fishing, spinning, or float bread crust allowed. All other legal baits are permissible. All baits to fish a minimum of 18″ below the surface.
Penywern Ponds is primarily a carp fishery. There are no legal bait restrictions.
Brecon Canal – coarse fishing.
